Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea is the most common disorder treated at the Springfield Regional Sleep Center. Sleep apnea is a general term for breathing problems that occur during sleep. People with sleep apnea can stop breathing throughout the night as many as 100 times per hour
Sleep apnea affects approximately 20 million adults, and may have serious negative health effects. These effects may worsen with other health conditions.
If you suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes, heart trouble or are overweight, treating your sleep apnea may improve all of these conditions while making you feel better.
Some common signs and symptoms of sleep apnea are:
- Restless sleep
- High blood pressure
- Excessive daytime sleepiness
- Loud, disruptive snoring
- Difficulty concentrating
- Morning headaches
- Depression or irritability
- Dry mouth
